Good morning everyone! I am 20 weeks post mitral valve replacement surgery. I am doing well, better days than bad. Back to work in 1 week and looking forward to trying to have a more normal schedule. One question for all of you... Has anyone experienced a change in heart rate depending how they are sleeping? Seems my heart rate can beat about 20 beats faster when I'm laying on my right side versus my left. Got to say this is worrying me. I have an appointment with my cardiologist on Monday but wanted to check with you all first. I appreciate any info or experience you all may have. Keeping everyone in my prayers. Thanks to all for sharing your stories. It has made my recovery (as I'm sure many others) much less stressful.

Hi everyone. I've been on this site reading everyone's stories. It helps so much, it shouldn't, but it does. I am almost 5 weeks post open heart surgery. My mitral valve had to be replaced because I got on infection in December that damaged it beyond repair. It has been surreal experience, fine one day and sick the next. I never expected that my fever would end up with OHS. I am slowly recovering and feel blessed to have the opportunity to continue spending time with my family, especially my 6 year old. She has handled this situation better than most adults. She understands exactly what had to be done. I just don't have the nerve to tell her I will probably need another surgery down the line ( I did not choose a mechanical valve). Something to deal with down the road. Right now it's just about getting stronger, getting rid of this cough and getting the tachycardia under control. I thank you for listening and for helping me through this even though I have been mostly behind the scene. I thank everyone who posts and wish everyone a speedy recovery.
