susan harris i am not a healthcare provider and no way an expert but i think they usually replace pulmonary valve w cow or pig tissue valve. pulmonary doesn’t “do” much so tissue works well. if it wears out, TAVR is usually the way to replace it. Plan to interview at least 3-4 surgeons. many have different opinions and it totally depends on what fits for you. i’ve read great testimonials here about mechanical valve On-x is newest one. and some real difficulties. net, there’s no right or wrong.

(INR testing now has at home option so that has gotten simpler, but the other questions to ask about (and think about later in life-after age 65 or so: drug interactions-what can i not take if on warfarin?, what to do if need surgery? can i get replaced w tissue valve if becomes burdensomein my old age? some surgeons say no and some yes, how do i keep source of warfarin same over years?, what if i become fall-risk in my older age?
Erin Bolanos Yes, my husband has had no issues with Eliquis.
