Grace Mason Hi Gordana, I had gained 16 pounds the day after my surgery because of all the fluids they give you during surgery. I received a diuretic to help clear that before I left the hospital and then continued them for a period of time after leaving the hospital. I am a little surprised your cardiologist referred you to your GP for guidance. I would contact his office again and let them know your GP is unavailable. Someone should address this concern, sooner than later. I also weigh each morning at the same time in the same clothes and keep a record to be able to share with my doctor how quickly I gain weight over a period of days.

Robert Miller I as given Lasix for some time after surgery to get the fluid out. It seems like standard procedure for both hospitals as was in, i.e. they didn't prescribe me Lasix because of anything particular. As for monitoring my weight, how much I walk, blood pressure, etc, that was handled by the surgeons' offices and not the cardiologist. I had to monitor all of this for about a month and at the beginning they would call me on a regular basis to check up on me. Maybe a call to the surgeon's office might be good. Why the cardiologist refers you to your GP is a bit of a mystery to me.
