Hello everyone! I underwent a minimal access mitral valve replacement with a Perimount Magna Pericardial Biological Prosthesis (Edwards Lifesciences, 31mm) back in 2019, when I was 47.
6 months ago I was told that I had an initial degeneration of the valve and severe stenosis + a blood clot on the valve… I was put on blood thinners and do not have any other medication. I am largely asymptomatic to this date, the blood thinners have stabilised the situation and improved some of the parameters but I am going to need a surgery at some point in the next few months / couple of years max I believe.
I am looking at people in this community with similar experience and in particular have questions on what strategy to follow next… some have suggested to me doing a VinV and wait for the next generation valves (like the mitris resilia) to show more clearly their safety and duration. Others have suggested to go with this latter valve now, and finally others argued for a mechanical valve (not my favourite choice). Any views/experiences to share with me? Thanks! Giovanni

Ana Brusso I, like Marie feel bad you are going to need another surgery. I can’t comment on your question about next valve choice etc. but wish you find the right answer. God bless you
