I'm 2.5 weeks post op for SAVR. I wish I could say that I "breezed through" as I and friends had expected. Instead I had numerous complications (some major-excessive bleeding, collapsed lung, heart block) and ended up staying in hospital for 2 weeks rather than the 1 week I was expecting. I ended up with a permanent pacemaker. I have been home several days now. Pulmonary function not quite back to normal, resolving peripheral edema. I think the worst part was the pain from the chest tubes. On the plus side, the nursing and MD care were great.

Sue Maize Welcome to recovery George! The complications can be scary but the fact that you’re in good shape will definitely help you in your recovery! I had excessive bleeding too as well as pulmonary edema and it seems a distant memory now at almost 9 weeks. You’ll be amazed at how fast the time goes and how well you recover! Prayers for healing! ❤️🩹🙏🏻

Rose Madura I'm sorry you have had a rough recovery. I also had a difficult one and spent a total of 24 days in the hospital over three months. I wondered at times if I'd ever turn the corner but I finally did. Your recovery is your own and please don't try to compare yourself to others. God bless you on this journey.
