Barbara Wood Probably yes... I had a mitral repair 8 months ago, I felt pretty good by 5-6 weeks, but the first couple weeks I was very winded when I moved around. I went in for a chest xray & it turned out I had a pleural effusion...but I had a really severe cough along with it. Being winded is a possible red flag. I would probably call my cardiologist if it has gotten worse rather than better. It does help to use your spirometer too.

Jennifer Barnett Yes pretty normal I couldn't even stand up straight when walking around the ward because of chest soreness and all the wires attached to me and breathing was so painful in the beginning, It eases off over time and at 7 months now I feel like it didn't even happen, as long as it improves and doesn't get worse I wouldn't be too concerned.
Take it easy and your body will recover at its own pace.
