Hi:I'm a 60 year old male and moderately active. After experiencing quite long time periodic low fever (99.5-101F), doctor could find real infection source and I was diagnostic with infective endocarditis. The echo revealed LVEF 48%, moderate aortic valve regurgitation and severe mitral valve regurgitation. The echo also showed a mobile echodensity attached to a thickened non-coronary leaflet concerning for vegetation.Infection doctor prescribed antibiotic to control bacteria in blood. Several weeks later, no bacterial can be found in blood. The second echo showed LVEF 60% (back to normal). But moderate to severe mitral regurgitation and aortic regurgitation are still there. A highly mobile echodensity present on the aortic valve isn't disappear even though no bacteria source can be detected in blook anymore. I would like to avoid open heart surgery if possible. I wondered if anyone here was in a similar position and what your options were, results, and outcomes.
Thanks
