I had a mitral valve repair surgery scheduled on my birthday, January 7, 2019. I went into surgery at 7 AM. Repair was not possible so I had a cow valve replacement. I was in ICU following surgery and my hemoglobin was dropping and my new valve had a very tiny slight leak. My surgeon determined that we should go back in and repair that leak. On that day I had two full surgeries. I sense that this was highly unusual and due to the meticulousness of my surgeon. I was at St. Joesephs hospital in Phoenix. The care from the staff was above and beyond. I was released 3.5 days later. I have not started cardiac rehab but I am walking 8 to 12 blocks twice a day. I was wondering if anyone else experienced muscle cramps through the chest and stomach. Initially these were very painful but after two weeks they seem to have subsided. I am glad that I have found this website.
