I got my surgery date! I will be having the Ross Procedure at UCSF on 10/14 with Dr. Boskovski. I feel so much better now that I've had those questions answered. The information and support this group has given has calmed a lot of my fears. Looking forward to being on the road to recovery!

I had my angiogram yesterday as the last test in my work up before I meet with two surgeons to discuss AVR. It was in an OR, which made me pretty anxious because I started thinking about my surgery. The procedure was a little unpleasant, because my blood pressure dropped and I felt like I couldn't breathe and was going to pass out. But they said that was unusual and I recovered pretty quickly. The longest part was having to keep pressure on the artery in my wrist (they went through my arm) for three hours afterwards in the hospital. But I'm excited that I finally get to meet with a surgeon next week that specializes in the Ross Procedure so I can know my options and hopefully get this thing scheduled!

Things are becoming real! I have had most of my pre-op testing, I just have an angiogram left and that will be next week. I have an appointment with a Ross Procedure surgeon at UCSF and another surgeon for a second opinion in about two weeks. I'm hoping to schedule my surgery for early October due to when my support system is available, but that all depends on the surgeon's schedule. I downloaded Adam's book and will be looking for advice for what I need to have to make my life easier after surgery. I want to get back to diving!
