Well I'm home ,surgery was 9 am Monday discharged at 9am Friday. feels real good to.be home.but you know it's a shame when your neck hurts from the port instead of your chest a full sternum was done on me . Will write more later going to rest for awhile . Thank you all again for the prayers .

Well everyone ,after small speed bump Monday with antibodies found in my blood,surgery was at 9 am after that ,by 4 am I was up setting in my chair.Tuesday was a good start then got a little sick. Last night I was moved to a private room finally slept a good night. My .nurses were the best I could ask for .port in my neck was a taken out last night,today dr holden came in and said chest tubes can come out and might get to go h some tomorrow. Well post more later ,meds are kicking in. I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes...

Sitting in the editing room now thinking positive thoughts but so nervous at the same time , not sure what time surgery will be . I had to be here by 5 , thank you all for helping me get ready for this by posting on your blogs. God Bless and take care keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers

Well tomorrow is finally the day . Just got done with shower number one ,number two is before I leave lol leaving house around 3:15 . My report time is 5:00 am.I will have a family member post when everything is done .

Well I have 4 days to go , but this past saturday i came down woth a slight cold. On monday i called my nurse to let her know and she was out of town , So on wed. Bonnie called me ask ask how i was feeling, I told her not to bad she said give it till friday to see how things are and if not worse my surgery is still a go . Today I am feeling better still a little stuffy but not like i was. Praying that i can have my surgery this time. Sure don't want to have to postpone it again,I don't think my work place would like that to much .. Thoughts and Prayers going out to everyone that is having surgery and that is recovering .. My the Great Spirit be with you all....

Doctor visit went ok , He said i'm clear again for surgery hope i make it the next 2 weeks without coming down with anything .. He said i can go back to work until its time , but i worry about people coming in that are sick . My faith in God and my family are getting me through this ... Wishing everyone a speedy recovery that has already had their surgery ...

Well today was suppose to be my surgery day,but as my luck would have it I am still at home.surgery was postponed again ,this time because I have a style on my eye.this makes 4 times now,I really don't understand why this keeps happening. So ready to have this over and done and put behind me. I go see the surgoen on Wednesday this week,sure hope he says my eye is cleared .seems like every time I'm to go.in to th hospital something happens to me. Sending thoughts and prayers to everyone.

Well got a phone call at work yesterday . Pre-op nurse called question and answer done,she also let me know that I am the first one of the day so most likely I will have to be there at 5 am. Lucky me lol . Second phone call came today more questions from the N.P. I am to take my meds up until I go. Except for my headache meds . I think I am ready positive attitude thinking happy thoughts,mind set , have my husband as well prepared as I can.

Working today 2/10 off tomorrow , so tomorrow I will do all the grocery shopping for my family also making sure that my youngest has everything ready he needs for his stay at his granny's while I am in the hospital. Got the medical power of attorney done and copied for everyone that needs one. So starting to get more things covered before I go. Reading the stories on here has helped me understand a lot of what is going to happen. I have faith in my doctor and faith in my family to be here for me . My boss ask me yesterday if I was ready. Told her scared a little , she said you will do fine and just remember you will feel so much better then this is done and over with. Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone that is have surgery this week and in upcoming weeks.

9 days till surgery , trying to get everything in order before i go in, my mind keeps wondering if i covered all the basics.. training the lady that will be filling in for me at work this week.. She doesn't know what she is getting into lol....sitting here thinking what i need to take with me for my stay in the hospital. i know i have to take something lose to wear home.. not sure if i need anything else .. My children said they understand what is going on , i tried to get them ready, I have a heavy heart today lost another friend from where i use to work he was 75 years old.. sending thoughts and prayers to his family .. I know i need to go in with an open mind.. My faith in God and my family and friends will bring me through everything.. . Well time for me to get ready to go see my mom before i head to work ...

Down to 13 days till surgery , I guess the doctor couldn't move my date up. But that's ok , i'm getting things ready here at home and work is getting someone to fill in for me while I am gone... I have started a journal about every day though's as well . This is helping me a lot i can write all my feelings down ..Trying to get my son prepared again I know he is 13 almost but not sure if he understands everything that is going on...

Doctor visit this past tuesday went good. All the per-op test were done again. blood pressure was 110/60 so not to bad. Dr. Holden was pleased that I have my release from the dentist... He set my date for March 10th , but with subject to change ...

I know i haven't been on for awhile but a lot has been going on.. I never had my surgery in Jan. for the reason that i got sick again. I am finally cleared again by the dentist . I have a visit with Dr. Holden tomorrow . I am thankful for that because i have been through the lose of my niece this past wednesday and I can feel it in my chest . Will write more tomorrow after my visit. Hope everyone is doing great after their surgery ..

redness is finally leaving my leg. Swelling comes and goes.Ben off work since Dec. 1st.. wish i was back but on bed rest until this heals.......On a different note wishing everyone a speedy recovery on up coming surgeries...

Just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery date has changed . Not sure what it will be yet, i have to go to the surgeon on the 11th and then he will make the decision... Wish i wouldnt have got this infection... Will keep you all posted as to when i am going in....

The past couple days were rough for me,late friday night i started having slight chest pains and pains in my leg.. After work last night i decided to head to the E.R. To find out chest pains was just anxiety which is what i thought they would say since surgery was getting close, but with my leg it has turned out not to be good news. I was told i have cellulitis which is an infection, the doctor at the hospital gave me and I V of antibiotics and then put me on two different pills ,was hoping this would be cleared up enough but something tells me it wont be... Called and left a message for my doctor first thing this morning, waiting for him to call me back ,, Most likely my surgery is going to be postponed... not looking forward to that ... will post more after i talk to the doctor tomorrow

Everyone has been asking me what kind of valve i will be getting.. I'm leaning towards a tissue valve, only because i do not want to take Coumadin for the rest of my life.. When I told mt Doctor this , he told me that i was very well informed about what i was going to get done. Dr. Holden also went on to say if he was having this surgery,he himself would pick a tissue valve. So in the long run I think I'm making the right choice..So as i have been thinking about things alot since my time is getting short before i have to go into the hospital, i have been wondering what type of valve did most of my AVR friends chose ?Going to to say that I am thankful for my support system i have. If it wasn't for my husband getting laid off right before my surgery i would have to go to a rehab place to recover... Yesterday was a busy day for me and tiring but i enjoyed every minute of it. It was worth it just by seeing the faces of my family enjoying their meal ..

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving .i am thankful for my family , my new found friends and for my new PCP Doctor for finding out what had been bothering me. Hope everyone has a Blessed day. Thoughts and prayers for speedy recoveries.

When i first went to see the surgeon i was scared, not sure what to think .Was still getting use to the idea of having a heart problem, but when I got there i was at ease . My surgeon was so nice and very understanding, He drew a picture of what happened to my valve . At that point and time we talked about everything that i had to get done before he set a date for surgery. The following week I had another appt. for blood work and x-rays and a blood gas test(hope i never have to have that test again ) after test seen the Doctor set the date for Dec. 5th .. A week after that i got a phone call , you know you have a good Doctor when he calls you to change your date instead of having a nurse call you...I want to say thank you to Dr. Holden for being the person that you are, this shows me that you take good care of your patients and for that i am thankful ...

starting to get a little nervous , my surgery date will be here before i know it. Trying to get things in order before i go in, so much to do and so little time, but with the help of my family i should be able to get it done...One week from today i have to be at Ruby Hospital at 5:30 am ....Hoping the weather is good to go .

Finding out that i had a heart problem was a blow to me , since my last doctor said it was nothing to worry about, that when i got the feeling i was having i was just to sit down for 30 minutes with my feet up. Been doing that a long time. But the feelings started getting worse these past few years, so i decided to change doctors which turned out to be the best thing i have done since having my children . My new Doc. sent me for an echo and a stress test after my echo i was waiting for my stress test to start the doctor at the hospital came in and said i really don't want to put you through this test with your problem you are having i just looked at him , he went on to tell me that people with my problem shouldn't have a stress test done i was shocked , he went on to tell me that i had a heart valve problem and that i need to see a cardo doctor , which he was one but he referred me to his associate . from there i went on to have a cath done, and waqs told i needed surgery , was a very big shock, as i'm telling my boss that i have to leave work for while i was crying i guess at that time it really hit me that i had a problem. . I have been sick for some time and just always thought it was anxiety from my jobs.
