How often do you get an EKG post surgery? Every Year? Every 3rd year?
I am 68, and 5 years out from my AVR and aneurysm resection. My cardiologist does an echocardiogram and EKG on me yearly. I am guessing that the younger you are, it might be less often.
I am 5 months post Ross procedure, and I just had my first Echo. Everything looks good so he said come back in 12 months.
I get an EKG every year when I visit cardiologist for annual checkup.
My surgery was recently and they said EKG and echo after 3 and 6 months postop, after that - yearly.
I get an EKG at every cardiology visit, but I now only have to see my doctor every 18 months. ❤️
Assuming that an echo was done once a year, but after my last one, which was about 11 months post surgery,I asked the technician if it was done again, about this time.He said not necessarily, unless there are problems.
Brady, I would insist on an echo every visit with cardiologist. Mine dismissed my requests for two years saying everything sounded right and I ended up with a redo. They don't know what's going on inside your chest.
Thanks Ana,I will keep that in mind and ask him about it,when we talk next.
I see my cardiologist for a check-up twice a year and have an echo once a year. My double valve replacement took place in 2015.
