I have no idea if I will need surgery or not. I will not know until next week when I meet with the cardiologist. I am a 65 year old female with BAV, 2 PFOs and primary pulmonary hypertension. until approx 6 months ago I had no symptoms but have developed SOB. Today i had an echo. When they got ready to start me on the treadmill my BP was very high 165/120. This is most unusual for me. Typical BP is in the 110/70 range. Three people checked my BP and they used the "nurse on a stick' to check my BP all getting similar reading. After I got on the treadmill I became extremely SOB in less than five minutes, my heart rate was barely breaking 100 (and they wanted it to go to 131) and BP went down. They said I was pale and stopped the treadmill. They did the injection stuff (I don't know what it's called) and finished the test that way. Oh and after I got off the treadmill my BP went up again. something tells me this is not good. Ideas? Similar stories? Input welcome. Thanks.

Corey Sines I have Mitral stenosis, My heart rate and BP shot up, I made it about 6 or so minutes on the treadmill stress test. Mitral stenosis is a little different than Aortic, its the pressure and discomfort for me that pushed me off the treadmill before the SOB. Expect a follow up cardiac catheter test to accurately measure your pulmonary pressure.
