I am 70yrs old and have severe mitral valve regurgitation from mitral valve prolapse. Although I am asymptomatic now I had an episode of atrial fibrillation a few years ago. I am having my surgery at Mount Sinai in NYC on Oct 13th by Dr David Adams. Anyone with the same issue should read the article published in the journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery entitled A near 100% Repair Rate for Mitral Valve Prolapse is Achievable in a Reference Center. August 2012 vol 144.
