About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation. While it was largely asymptomatic, surgical repair was recommended as soon as possible. Based upon Adam's site, we decided to look into Cedars Sinai.
Dr. Chikwe, the head of the Smidt Heart Institute, was nothing short of amazing. She and her stellar staff gave me the confidence to proceed with the surgery, which was minimally invasive robotic. To a person, everyone was very professional and did their jobs with the utmost of professionalism and care. I would recommend this team to anyone! The lone exception to the unbelievable capability was the food. I think they live by the motto of that which does not kill you makes you stronger!
The recovery went exactly as they had indicated, both from a timing as well as after-effects perspective.
I am closing in on 2 months since the surgery and I have resumed a completely normal lifestyle. I am very active and live in a national forest at over 5,000 feet elevation. Aside from occasional shortness of breath, I almost feel like the surgery never happened.
