About Me (In My Own Words)
Robotic Mitral Valve Repair and Maze procedure on Thursday 9/28/23. 65yo female. Was in ICU until Sunday afternoon, then got out of hospital Tuesday, 10/03. The nerve block pump, along with pain meds helped keep the pain down. But when they removed the nerve block, the next morning the pain was very apparent and I asked for meds. I had been having some afib and irregular beats, thus the Maze procedure. However, I was in “Junctional Rythm” after surgery. Was released hoping the Rythm would return to normal with some time. Checkup yesterday 10/11 revealed I wasn’t in Junctional Rythm at that ekg. Now wearing a7 day RIO Holt monitor to see what’s happening. My current resting heartrate has been in the mid 90’s. Hopefully that will go down. Still having a really hard time with any exertion at all. Really thought I would snap back quicker. Arrangements pending to start Cardio Rehab Phase 2 next week. Dr. Kenneth Liao at Baylor St. Luke’s Houston performed the surgery. He’s extremely proficient in this robotic surgery, performing between 5-10 per week.
