i was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse about ten years ago and have been getting echo's every year was told that my prolapse was moderate . my last echo i was told i am now at the severe stage. so i'm having surgery to repair my prolapse.dr. weiss told me there is a 80 to 85 percent chance that my prolapse can be repaired. if repair isn't possible then i will have to have a replacement valve. dr. weiss recomended a pig or cow valve as a replacement.
