About Me (In My Own Words)
My heart murmur was discovered during a regular medical checkup on my 60th birthday. Further testing led to a diagnosis of Prolapsed Mitral Valve with flail of chords leading to severe mitral regurgitation. This was quite a surprise as otherwise I feel well and am in good health, but both the cardiologist and the surgeon recommend surgery to replace the mitral valve now to prevent getting into more serious problems in a few years down the road. Surgery is scheduled for mid-November 2012
