About Me (In My Own Words)
I have had two Open Heart Surgeries, both performed by Dr Starr at St Vincent, Portland Oregon. The first was when I was 8 years old (1974) to repair Aortic Stenosis. Then in 1981, my Aortic valve was replaced with a Bjork-Shiley Tilting Disk Valve.
I am fortunate to have had very good health and have had that same valve since it was implanted in 1981. Yep, nearly 38 years with the same valve!
Leading a very active life and not letting the prosthetic valve slow me down, rather just the opposite, it is allowing me to enjoy life to the fullest.
