About Me
The surgery to repair my heart will take place on Wednesday, November 30, at Methodist Hospital, 6565 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77030. Dr. Gerald Lawrie will be my surgeon. Please look at his website, geraldlawriemd.com, to see his profile.
Jody and I will drive to Houston Tuesday and arrive at the hospital at 6 AM Wednesday for the procedure, which is expected to take 3-4 hours, I think.
I'll be in ICU for at least 24 hours afterwards and then in a room for a total stay of 5-7 days. When I'm released, my uncle, Richard Mayer, has graciously offered to fly us home in his airplane. Thank you, Richard!
I admit to being apprehensive about the surgery. I feel good, unlike some who are so sick they look forward to the surgery. I was able to go quail hunting Friday after Thanksgiving and deer hunting Saturday. Fortunately, my leaky valve was discovered before it became more severe. Dr. Lawrie said even though I think I feel good, I will feel better almost immediately afterwards.
Thanks for all your love and prayers!
