About Me (In My Own Words)
I have recently been diagnosed with moderate-to-severe regurgitation of my mitral valve. I see my cardiologist in 12 days to find out what needs to be done and when. I am currently asymptomatic with moderate dilation of my left atrium as the only observable issue with my heart. I have been in contact with a leading heart surgeon in the field who has let me know I am currently in good shape; however, I am a candidate for surgery. At this point, my main issue is with all of the challenges surrounding the surgery, not the surgery or outcome (which is very good) itself. For example, managing the TEE, dealing with the breathing tube post surgery, pump head, etc. Any support is much appreciated as I enter the world of impending heart surgery.
