I'm so glad to have to have sought out this site. It came highly recommended by my friends over on the mitral valve Facebook group I'm a member of. I've recently been diagnosed with mitral valve rheumatic disease and type II diastolic dysfunction. My cardiologist, Dr. Singh, referred me to a cardiothoracic surgeon. His name is Dr. Walker. He told me that with my age (48) and the condition severity of my anterior leaflet that I'm not a candidate for repair. That I will need a mechanical valve and will be on warfain the rest of my life. Needless to say I am pretty devastated as I was hopeful for the repair or biovalve like Dr. Singh and I had discussed. Nevertheless, my family and friends are urging me to seek more opinions. That is how I ended up here. I'm very grateful to have this site as a tool to help me on my journey. Hearing from others who've been right where I am is the best thing I could hope for. So thank you Adam for creating this site who has clearly touched so many lives. Where would we be without you?😊
