About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a congenital heart defect with a bicuspid aortic valve. After years of being monitored, an aneurysm formed on my aorta. On January 15, 2020 my Cardiologist ran test on me as I was experiencing symptoms. He informed me that I was only 1 of 3 patients he’s ever seen make it this far before needing surgery to replace my heart valve. My heart valve had calcified to the point where it was barely working and in his words, “I was lucky to be alive”. So, it was time for my surgery.
Fast forward 1 year, I feel the best that I’ve felt since I was in my 20’s. I’m 52 now. I have so much stamina, energy, and strength. Feeling blessed! It’s great to be alive!
