About Me (In My Own Words)
Do to a history of heart disease in my family I was sent by my GP for a Stress Echocardiogram in my mid -forty at which time I was diagnosed with a leaky bicuspid valve and told that I would need surgery someday depending on when my left ventricle and/or my ascending aorta reach a certain size. I was followed by my excellent cardiologist Dr. Jose Meller until at the age of 57 he told me it was time to consult a surgeon. I did some research on my own and spoke to some medical professionals who all wholeheartedly recommended Dr. Girardi. I had my aortic valve replaced and my ascending aorta repaired at Weill Cornell Hospital on March 29, 2017 (29MM Edwards Bovine Pericardial Valve). Dr. Girardi and the entire medical team were terrific. I went to NYU Langone for cardiac rehab for two month after surgery (also great and highly recommended) and have been symptom-free since. Just waiting to go for my third post-surgery CT Scan to make sure everything is still in the right place.
