About Me (In My Own Words)
Surgery was successful. Big improvement in quality of breathing. Post op was eventful. BP and lab values (glucose, potassium, magnesium, creatinine and GFR) needed to be addressed. Edema in legs and ankles was pretty severe. Discharged 3 days post surgery and told edema should subside in a short time. (It did not) Lasix, plavix and warfarin prescribed to be taken at home. Lasix had to be increased significantly which had negative affect on kidney values. After 10 days I developed an internal bleed (tarry stools) and warfarin was stopped. RBC and hemoglobin levels very low (anemia) bordering on needing a transfusion. Will be having both upper and lower endoscopic procedures in next week. Shortness of breath being anemic is terrible. Any activity causes severe SOB and insomnia is the norm. Looking forward to improvement in hemoglobin levels which I hope eliminates the SOB.
