About Me (In My Own Words)
My mother, at the age of 5 years old (1964) received a Starr Edwards Ball-In-Cage mitral valve. At the age of 16yrs old she had her first child, second child at 19yrs old and third at 22yrs old. Today at the age of 55 years old she still has the same mechanical valve (47yrs later). We are trying to research and see if that is some kind of record. She pretty much live a normal life beside taking Coumadin (blood thinner). Also that valve does not need to be replaced yet.
