About Me (In My Own Words)
My journey of finding out that I had problems with my valves was back in 1997 when I had my first echo done. The findings from the test was that I had reguratation in all valves but the mirtal was moderate and the aorta was mild. In 2010 my energy level kept declining and my daily excerise was beginning to wear me out more than up lift me.It wasn't until my next echo-cardiogram in March 2011 that the Dr. told me I needed to have surgery to replace my mitral valve, they also said my aorta was moderate to severe didn't need to be replaced at that time. I than asked will it continue to get worse. The answer was most likely. So together we deceided to replace the aorta also. I felt like this the best cause I didn't ever want to have to have another one if we could do it all together. May 11th of 2011 I underwent surgery. The surgery was a success I did have some complacations not with the heart but with excess fluid build up around lungs and infection down my throat. This caused me to have to stay in for three weeks. I later did the cardiac rehab which helped alot. The Dr's and Nurses were wonderful. It has almost been a year and I feel good. I am very grateful to God for my life and for my Famiy and friends who were my support team.
