Mindy's Profile

I was diagnosed with aortic and mitral valve regurgitation at the age of 21. The damage was done when I received full mantle radiation treatment to my chest for Hodgkin's Disease at the age of 11. Now, at the age of 42 I am facing open heart surgery. I am absolutely petrified! I can honestly say I have never been this frightened about anything. In my lifetime I have been through 10 different surgeries, but as a health care professional, I have always feared having to personally deal with a ventilator, and chest tubes. Isn't that crazy! I spend everyday caring for others, and doing all I can to make them better when they are dealing with the same things, but now I am the one who is scared. I believe God is in total control, so I am trying to release my fears and put it all in His hands. I look forward to speaking with everyone, and cannot tell you how much you all have helped me already.
