About Me (In My Own Words)
I was having more and more problems with catching my breath while out walking with my wife during the CoronaVirus Pandemic. About a week into the Stay at Home orders I got out of the shower, sat down on the bed and promptly passed out. My wife said it was hard to wake me up. The doctor agreed to see me the next day and ordered an Echocardiogram that showed moderate to severe Aortic Stenosis. As we were still in the Stay at Home rules it took 2 weeks to get a cardiologist appointment. That was on Friday and I was told to just "sit" all weekend and not do anything. On Monday at 8 AM I went in for a TEE and Cardiac Cath. When my doctor came in he said we're just waiting for the ambulance to take you to Spectrum Heart Center. Within the hour I was on the way to Grand Rapids, Spectrum Meijer heart Center. After three billion blood pokes and lab tests I was scheduled for surgery on Friday. I went into surgery Friday at 7 AM and was out in about 6 hours. They released me on Friday the 19th and I am recuperating at home now with visiting nurses twice a week and PT twice a week.
