About Me (In My Own Words)
I've been very active my entire life - working as a brick mason, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, etc. In recent years, despite my activity, my endurance began to dramatically decrease. I never experienced true pain through angina or a heart attack. I'd just become excessively winded. A catheter revealed three coronary artery blockages and advanced aortic valve stenosis. One blockage was 100% but collateral bypasses had developed. Eventually i declined from forty laps in a pool to four without having to stop and recover. After heart valve surgery and two bypasses, I can now swim two miles and continue to live a normal active life as a home inspector. I am now 73 and still often hike 5 - 7 miles in the Appalachian Mountains. My open heart surgery was in May of 2023. I eat a nutritarian (whole food plant-based nutrient dense) diet.
