About Me

I was diagnosed with a BAV when I was in my early 30's. I have been in good health and have received care for the past 20 years at Duke. I have been immensely pleased with the care I have received over the years at Duke. On February 5, 2024, on my regular check up, my cardiologist informed me I was getting close to needing my valve replacement. I do not have any symptoms and am feeling great. I had the opportunity to interview four surgeons, and all were fantastic. 3 of the 4 surgeons believe I will need an aortic root extension and I chose Dr. Ross because he does this procedure minimally invasive. So, I am getting prepared for the May surgery, I am focusing on clean eating, I have eliminated alcohol and watching my salt intake and working out to be in good shape before the big event. I look forward to being on the other side of this journey. If I can be of assistance to anyone, please let me know.
