I had my new patient PCP visit May 28 of this year, during which my doctor noted a heart murmur and subsequently ordered the echocardiogram that got this ball rolling. After cardiology referral, TEE indicated severe mital valve prolapse and severe, near holosystolic regurgitation. A two-week ePatch holter monitor showed various ectopic beats to add a little je ne sais quoi to the situation. I met with my surgeon yesterday (Sept 10) to learn he will do the procedure i'd hoped would be possible: repair via mini-thoracotomy. Dr. Freno is the only surgeon in Oklahoma City to do this repair via mini-thoracotomy. I'm truly excited to have this done. Since my valve situation is a degenerative one, i may have been wrong in my assumption that my declining energy level and stamina have been due only to age and laziness.
