About Me (In My Own Words)
i was diagnosed with aoritc stenosis about 9 yrs ago. so just like to slow climb up the old roller coaster's biggest crest i have been approaching this scary day. I will be in the FDA TAVR study for young healthy patients, man that sure is relative...i am 70 and do not feel either right now. so happy to be getting TAVR. I am sort of a unique case, since i have allergic reactions to both pain killers and anesthesia. they slow my heart rate and breathing sometimes to a stopping point. this has been since i was a child. I had cataract surgery in sept. and crash with proparacaine drops , which is used for people allergic to lidocaine, they had to do artificial respiration and it took 3 iv bags of atropine....this is for eye drops! so I will be having a long talk with the anesthesiologist, my saving grace is they use a pace maker in this procedure which should....should...keep he from reaction and they ...i think will leave it in on a temporary basis until i am stable and thru with pain meds. Surgery is mid dec...oh and did i mention the day i found out about needing surgery we sold our house! it is just me and my 76 yr old husband a SCA survivor, yep i have packed every box myself....a very slow job, resting every 10 mins to catch my breath and not lifting but using a cart to move stuff around and sliding the boxes off with my foot...hey you do what you have to....so we move, i go to surgery and recover and stare at unpacked boxes.....but that will be fine...as long as i recover well. thanks for listening to my story.
