About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with aortic valve stenosis about 10 years ago and as of last year (2017) my valve had narrowed pretty drastically and it was decided it was time to have an aortic valve replacement. I have a mechanical valve as I am 49 years old and have to be on Coumadin (blood thinner)for the rest of my life. They thought my stenosis was because of rheumatic fever as a kid, but once the surgeon got in there, he found I had a bicuspid valve and he said it could’ve been from damage over time or I was born with it.
