About Me (In My Own Words)
I am reborn thanks to Dr. Gillinov!! 10 years ago I was told that I it was predetermined that I would need mitral valve replacement, that due to the severity of my valve disorder, replacement was not an option. It was determined that I should not have surgery until I have no alternative because it would be best to replace that valve only once during my lifetime. Since then, I my mitral valve has been monitored with echocardiograms every 6 months. To reduce stress I retired from my career and took early social security, at significant loss of income. About a year ago I read that about valve repair. When I asked my cardiologist about the possibility, I was told that knowing the possibility of repair could only be determined during surgery. I now know better.
