I am 52 years old and at age 20 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease. The treatment over 30 years ago caused damage to my heart valves. I was able to live a cancer-free, normal life these past 30 years. The symptoms were getting worse over the past few years and it was time to replace the aortic valve. I underwent aortic valve replacement one year ago. I have a Bovine valve. I have not posted on the website yet, but I have been following this site for one year now. I have learned more about my valve surgery, expectations, complications, post surgical issues, and emotional issues one experiences after OHS from this site, than any other resource. So grateful for such a personal and educational resource as this site.
