recently been diagnosed with the above and am looking for guidance to pick my surgeon. I have consulted with two surgeons and have an appointment with a third. How did you pick your surgeon. I would appreciate some input.
I Have decided to have my surgery at Hoag Hospital. My next question is, do I do the Aortic Valve with a cow valve or a mechanical valve. I understand that the mechanical valve will last longer but I have to take blood thinners.
Next, the Mitral Valve. Do I go for the repair or the Pig or Mechanical valve? Apparently the repair has been only been done for the past 8 to 10 years so there is no data to confirm its longevity. The Pig valve has a life span of about 10 to 15 years and the Mechanical Valve is longer.
I would appreciate some help and guidance from you all who have been down this road.
