Following up with a cardiologist after my annual physical I was diagnosed with severe AS. I thought I was in good shape for a 69 year old man. Normal BP, excellent labs, sugar free, low carb diet, regular weight training and feel great other than occassional shortness of breath. I was wrong. In five days I will have surgery to replace my aortic and mitral valves. I'm looking forward to putting this behind me and getting back in the gym but wonder if I will manage on my own for the first couple of weeks post-op. I will have a nurse checking on me daily.
