About Me

After working in the medical field for over 40 years, now it's my turn to be a patient. I was a medical technologist and currently a cytotechnologist. I was diagnosed with a bicuspid valve in my 20s, but had no issues until last couple years. (I'm 63) I've always been active: bikeathons, hiking, 5Ks, working as a dive master, and working out regularly. My cardiologist has been monitoring my valve with ECHOs for the last 10 years. Diagnosed last December with severe aortic stenosis and slight dilation to my aorta. Symptoms are mild: shortness of breath, mild chest pain and lack of energy during exercise. Upcoming OHS is scary but I know I'm in good hands. Hardest part is not having any visitors because of COVID. My husband will drop me off and won't see him until I'm ready for discharge.
