About Me
Hello... I was born (1970) with a bicuspid aortic valve and diagnosed with a murmur when I was 16 (1986). It wasn't until October of 2007 that my murmur got louder and my doctor suggested I get an echo. After that echo my doctor told me I would need my aortic valve replaced in 6 months. I came under the care of my cardiologist (cardio) who told me that as long as I was asymptomatic I would not need it replaced. I see the cardio every 6 months, with my last echo in Nov. 2009. Now it's Jan. 2010 and I am starting to notice shortness of breath & fatigue. I am frightened to death of having to undergo surgery to replace my valve. So many questions & concerns!!!! I go back to the cardio in May, but I may need to go back sooner. I play bagpipes, ride horses, play with my dogs, have a cat also, collect Breyer model horses, speak Scottish Gaelic and sing alto in my church choir. I am a Christian and have been doing a ton of praying ever since I got my diagnosis. My husband and parents are supportive of me and concerned as well. I also am blessed with some wonderful friends!
