About Me (In My Own Words)
I had an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder and while seeing a rheumatologist she noted a murmur. I had just had an echo done 2 weeks prior and that was normal. I was at work became dizzy and felt like my heart was racing. I was taken to the local ER and noted to have myocarditis as well as moderate to severe mild regurgitation on the echocardiogram. It took a couple months to get my lupus in good control to have the surgery. I was seen by Dr Knight at Strong Memorial then a telephone conference with a new surgeon at Cleveland clinic. I was more comfortable with the surgery locally as he had many years of experience compared to a newer surgeon. I had my surgery 8/29/22 which was a successful although post surgery I had a stroke. I still don’t feel great post surgery with of palpitations and pain in my ribs. The unknown of how long this repair will last scares me as I’m only in my 30’s and have young kids.
