About Me

In 2021 (age 44), I was diagnosed with a congenital bicuspid aortic valve, moderate stenosis, and a 4.5 cm ascending aortic aneurysm; Stenosis progressed to severe in 2022. On 26 June 2023 (age 46), I had surgery to replace the aortic valve with a mechanical valve and to repair the now-4.8 cm ascending aortic aneurysm with a #26 Dacron graft. Surgery was performed by Dr. Fenton McCarthy at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
