About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 40 and was diagnosed with aortic stenosis (bicuspid valve) in 2002 after my GP heard a heart murmur. I saw my cardiologist every two years for echos and every time she called it mild. I am a very active person. Within the past year I began to feel more short of breath than normal during exercise that I was accustomed to and occasionally lightheaded. I had a TEE in the spring of this year and sought a second opinion in September. From the spring to September, even normal activities began to make me out of breath and dizzy. I am scheduled for surgery on 11/26/12 and am counting down the days.
