About Me (In My Own Words)
Early March 2019, I came down with what I thought was a flu or a stomach bug. After my wife noticed that I was having a hard time walking straight and talking, she recognized it as a stroke and made the 911 call. Turns out I had contracted endocarditis which had latched onto an undiagnosed bicuspid aortic heart valve. Vegetation had grown on the valve, broken off and caused the stroke. I ended up needing a new heart valve and a few patches of holes in the heart walls caused by the infection. Recovery so far has gone well and I'm lucky to be in the position I am.
