About Me (In My Own Words)
I was 11 years old when an infection got in my blood stream, it landed on my aortic valve and compromised it so the valve had to be replaced. A mechanical St. Jude's Valve was used. The surgeon grafted a bovine tissue wedge in the ascending aorta to enlarge the annulus for an oversized valve due to my age. It has been installed for 33 years and we have been watching it closely.
