About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in the fall of 2020 after I had an echo and nuclear stress test. I was 63. I started new medications but didn’t necessarily feel any better. After 3 months another echo showed no improvement but my cardiologist said we have the next best news…nothing is worse. So over the next year or so my wife, Mary, and I learned to relax a bit and enjoy life as much as we could. This spring, 2022, I had another echo which prompted a TEE, trans esophageal echo. This showed severe regurgitation. My doc said it was worse than he thought and was in the severe category. The TEE was on 6/14/2022.
He suggested surgery and said I would have tests first to decide if I was strong enough for surgery. They would look at my carotid arteries and other parts of my heart to look for any other possible issues or concerns…also for diagnostic measurements and to test pressures etc. these 2 tests were done 7/12 & 7/14. I turned 65 on 7/13.
More waiting.
I now have an appt. on 8/16/2022 to meet with Dr. Abouzelam, CT surgeon. Expecting to have surgery at the end of August.
