About Me (In My Own Words)
Hello Heart Valve Friends!
My name is Jamie. My post is a little different compared to most. I do not have an upcoming surgery date or a list of questions. I have been on this site for many years and am always reading all these powerful stories and the part that hits me is the questions about how will your life be after surgery. I thought I should finally share my story and tell you how your life could be even better after valve surgery. My whole life I was told I had a very "loud" murmur. One night a bad flu landed me in the Er and I was told to get my heart checked out. I did exactly that and was diagnosed with MVP in 2005. After a few years of being on meds and check ups it was time for surgery. I had my surgery on May 21st 2007. It was obviously as you all know a scary time. I thought I am only 26 years old, I just got married and wanted to start a family. Needless to say I had a very successful surgery and because of my young age and not waiting I was able to get a repair instead of a replacement. Thank god! What I really want everyone to know is that my surgery changed my life. The energy level, being able to walk up and down stairs, and going on walks and actually being able to work out and feel my age for once was AMAZING! This scary life situation can truly become a life changer. Best part ever I finally got my baby girl, Hartley Ann. I love seeing the support you all have for each other. This Site is such a blessing. I am so proud of all of you and the courage you have and even though you don't know me, I am here and praying for you all!
