Bicuspid aortic valve. Murmur discovered at age 36. Asymptomatic until replacement in June 2012 at age 60.
I had a minimally invasive procedure using a bovine valve. I had a three inch incision made just to the right of center on my chest, and an similar sized incision in my groin. I had a 4 day LOS and was cleared for any activity 12 days after the surgery.
I highly recommend the minimally invasive strategy.
