About Me (In My Own Words)
I just transitioned from “moderate” to “sever “aortic valve (due to stenosis) risk patient that has been told by my cardiologist that I will need a valve replacement.
A little background on me…I am a 73-year-old male, have never smoked, exercise moderately & consistently, have a healthy diet, maintain a good weight, and have lived an active life in San Diego, CA. That’s the good news; the bad news is my ECHO showed I have progressed from a velocity of 3.4 in 2019 to 4 in December 2021. I am now starting to feel out of breath doing simple things like chores and gardening + find it harder to be motivated to exercise as I just feel tired more often. My doctor is arranging a cardiac catheter procedure to see if I can qualify for TAVR.
My question for the community is this…I anticipate myself and my wife meeting with my doctor’s recommended surgeon and getting a second opinion too relatively soon… so what are the questions I should be asking the surgeon? Thanks in advance for your help!
