About Me (In My Own Words)
My husband John had aortic valve surgery on 8/2/16. I was terrified going in. We read Adam's book which helped tremendously but once I was in the wait area, I felt relieved but at the same time nervous. I was relieved that my husband of 31 years was undergoing a life saving procedure. The staff at the hospital was amazing. They gave me updates every two hours and I can't say enough about Dr. Molloy and his staff and the wonderful care they delivered. My husband was able to walk himself from one side of the CCU to the ICU the day after surgery. He was discharged on the third day and he literally walked out of the hospital. His recovery was quick. He completed cardiac rehab and returned to full time duty after twelve weeks. He is doing well. Thankfully, he was able to have minimally invasive surgery and had no complications. He will be getting his 6 month check up in February. He did not want to get a mechanical valve and he is only 58 years old which means he most likely will need another surgery in the future. However, with the medical advances, we are both very hopeful for what they will be able to do when that time comes.
Thank you for your book Adam, this web page and for everyone's input and willingness to share their stories!
