About Me (In My Own Words)
I'm waiting for my TEE next week and the results of that test to determine what the next course of action is. I had my first open heart surgery at the age of 12, in 1966, to correct the ASD with which I was born. Unbeknownst to me and my family, the sutures only stayed closed for about a month. I didn't know anything was wrong until I became ill at 40, after which I had a second surgery to repair what had not been repaired originally (Portland, with Dr. Starr). A few years after the second surgery, I developed a-fib, had 4 cardio-versions (which never lasted), and have been diagnosed with CHF, pulmonary hypertension, and worsening tricuspid valve regurgitation. I feel very alone and depressed sometimes, but at least I now understand where the symptoms I've been battling for years originated. I live in rural eastern Washington, after having moved with my husband from rural eastern Oregon. I'm an artist and former art educator, and when I'm feeling good, I love to cook and make art. I'm so glad to have found this website. I want to see my 6-year-old granddaughter receive her PhD! (high hopes!)
